Helo was a 2-1/2-year-old Rottweiler this family had had since he was a puppy. He had a wonderful life, living on 4-1/2 acres in Mossy Head, Fl. with his best buddy, Soldier. He loved to run and play in the yard, play soccer with the children, swim, run with the horses, and just loved being a beloved furry family member. But on September 12, 2013, the lives of the entire family were changed forever. Helo vanished from the yard along with Soldier.
Soldier came home later that day, acting very different than his usual self, but Helo did not come home. The family began immediate efforts to find their precious boy, by searching all around the area, posting on social media, putting up fliers, and doing everything in their power to find and bring Helo home.
Two days later, a deputy sheriff came to the home, asking if a family member could identify a picture he had of a dog's body that had been found by some people riding horseback along a back road. Jessica's sister requested to see the body in person, and she was taken to the place where Helo's body had been dumped. His body showed the clear signs of horrific torture. He had been dragged, strangled, mutilated, and then shot. He had suffered unimaginable terror and pain at the hands of strangers, and then his body was just thrown out on a fence line like garbage.
